Plant Medicine University (PMU) was born from a sincere desire to share the knowledge that has helped me transform my life after a challenging journey through illness and recovery.
My Healing Journey
I was poisoned by E. coli and black mold in my beautiful little house in upstate New York. My children and I walked a sort of trail of tears, seeking healing and grappling with ancestral PTSD from the conquest and the pressures of modern-day living. Immersed in Native American culture in New Mexico for 20 years, my Native American grandmother guided me to seek help from a traditional medicine man. These medicine people are not just tribal doctors; they are spiritual counselors, sometimes referred to as spiritual attorneys and physicians.
Our traditions don’t dictate but provide tools for self-healing through immersive rituals known as ceremonies. These are based on a cultural framework called the Medicine Wheel, a compass for navigating life and understanding plant medicine as a tool for exploring your inner geography.
The Birth of Plant Medicine University
As I learned to heal myself, I realized the importance of this knowledge and committed to studying it for life. I left my old world behind to embrace this new path, returning to New York with libraries of oral tradition, ceremony, and functional knowledge. PMU aims to share this ancient wisdom with those seeking healing in these turbulent times.

Exclusive interview with Ze (Jose) Caldas, who will be leading our adventures in Brazil. After decades of working with the indigenous peoples of the Amazon (Noaia Rao Tribe, which was a model for Avatar) Jose has brought his experience to Sao Paolo.
